The company was incorporated on 1982 under the name Bhawani Petro Limited promoted by 1) Ashok Kumar Lakhotia 2) Ramesh Chandra Rathi 3) Sushil Kumar Maheshwari 4) Gita Lakhotia 5) Badrilal Rathi 6) Rita Rathi 7) Manoj Kumar Maheshwari and is a listed company at the Calcutta Stock Exchange and now being part of the Bangur Group.
The company was renamed as Gujarat Composite Limited in the year 1995 for the purpose of arrangement u/s. 391 and 394 of the Companies Act, duly approved by the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta and Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat by their respective Orders April, 1997 by dint of which, 4 (four) units of Shree Digvijay Cement Company Limited namely Fibre Products Division, Ranip, Ahmedabad, Cement Mill Division,Ranip, Ahmedabad, Rilaxon Coir & Felt Division, Konnagar, West Bengal and Shree Ram Silk ( Synthetic & Fabric Division) , Konnagar, West Bengal were transferred.
